Overview
The first vintage of Ao Yun, the Himalayan red made by Moët Hennessy (LVMH) at up to 2,600 metres in Deqin County, Yunnan, beneath the sacred Meili Snow Mountain. Released in 2016, it was one of the most talked-about launches in Chinese wine.
Tasting
- Palate
- Concentrated yet fresh and velvety.
Production
- Type
- Dry red, Cabernet-led blend
- Notes
- 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc from 314 tiny plots in four Tibetan villages along the Mekong. Because the barrels arrived six months after harvest, the 2013 spent only about half a year in oak. 24,000 bottles were made.
